We can help you select the right stairparts for your staircase. We will calculate the number of spindles you need, discuss which newel post is best suited for your stair, help with the handrail lengths and newel cap selection.

However if you wish to work out the number of stair spindles you need just follow these simple rules.

For the "Rake" (up the stairs) count how many steps you have and use 2 spindles per step (tread). at the top of the stairs take one spindle off which is replaced with a newel post and do the same for the bottom of your stairs.

For example  using a twelve step staircase. 12 Steps x 2 spindles = 24 less 1 spindle at the top and one spindle at the bottom of thestaircase gives you a total of 22 Stair Spindles to complete the rake.

For the landing run measure the distance between the newel post and the wall in mm's and divide by 121 if you are using 41mm spindles. For example am 1700mm run of landing balustrade will need 1700 divided by 121 = 14 spindles.
