Our contemporary range of oak stair parts will give your staircase a contemporary and modern look. Our oak contemporary square stair parts feature spindles and newel posts in a choice of square, stop chamfer, stop chamfer & fluted and regency designs with each style offering a distinctive modern look for your stairs.
Our Oak Square Spindles are available in the following sizes. Please use the radial buttons above to choose the required size.
To calculate the number of spindles you need on the rake of the staircase (up the stairs) simply count the number of treads and allocate two spindles per tread and take one spindle off where ever it meets a newel post. For example a straight flight staircase with 12 treads and a top and bottom newel post. 12 treads x 2 spindles = 24 spindles less one for the top newel and one for the bottom newel leaving 22 spindles.
To calculate the number of spindles you need on the landing area just measure the handrail length in mm's and divide by 121. For example a landing rail of 1500mm divided by 121 = 12 spindles.
Follow the above rules to ensure your stair balustrade complies to current UK building regulations which state your spindles should not allow a 100mm sphere to pass between them
Our spindles are supplied in two sizes. The 900mm spindles are used on both closed string staircases and landings. The 1100mm spindles are used on cut string staircases so that you have one 900mm spindles and one 1100mm spindle per tread. Spindles should be fitted to the handrails & baserails by gluing and crosspining them before installing fillets between each spindles. N.B. All our handrails and baserails are supplied with fillets included.
